Legislative Summaries by Year


The NYS Legislature meets each year, beginning in January and ending in late June (most years). Bills that have passed both houses are sent to the Governor to be signed into law. The legislative summary for the current year includes the domestic violence- related laws that have been signed into law up to the date of the summary being posted to the OPDV website; this would not include bills still waiting to be sent to the Governor or waiting for signature. Until a summary is marked “FINAL” please check back for updates.
