The First Strike Project deals with the link between animal cruelty and human violence. First Strike offers prevention and intervention programs, an empathy-teaching program pairing juvenile offenders and at-risk youth with abused and abandoned dogs in need of training and rehabilitation, and Safe Haven programs for domestic violence victims. Locate a First Strike program in your area, or get help starting a local program.

The Latham Foundation is a national clearinghouse of information on the links between animal abuse, child abuse and domestic violence. Latham gathers and disseminates information to educate the professional communities and the general public about the links between cruelty to animals and other family violence.
